Description

Belgian title Chassis no. SB6477 Engine no. 107.413 - Former embassy car - Clear history, superb colour combination - Major work in 2015/2016 - No reserve   1972 Citroën SM This carburettor-engined Citroën SM left the factory in 1972 with a superb colour scheme combining ‘Bleu d’Orient’ (AC 616) paintwork and a magnificent brown leather interior. It has a clear and unusual history, as it was delivered new on 29 May 1972 to the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia, as is recorded in its original service book. When it had done about 20,000km, it was bought by the then CEO of Mitsubishi, before being acquired, in 1981, by its previous owner, a keen Citroën enthusiast, when it had covered a total of just over 60,000km. In 2015, he had some major mechanical restoration work carried out on this fine example, with all the components checked and replaced when necessary. The hydraulic systems (for the brakes, steering and suspension) were also overhauled, and the kingpins and ball joints were replaced. At the same time, the clutch was changed and all the electrical equipment checked over. In 2016, the car was repainted, the Michelin tyres replaced and a stainless-steel exhaust fitted. Altogether, nearly 25,000€ were spent before the car’s current owner bought it in October 2016, when it had covered 94,293km. Since then, he has added 5000km to this total, without any problems. This four-owner car with its clear, documented history exhibits a rare and enviable elegance.  Photos © Carsbyoptics 1972 Citroën SM No reserve Constructeur : 1972 Citroën SM Modèle : No reserve Carte Grise : Belgian title N° Chassis : Chassis no.
